It’s true. Every time you shop with one of our brand partners, you help us reach more potential blood, plasma, and platelet donors. And in doing so, you help strengthen a life-saving movement.
We team up with brands and share the inspiring stories of our community, people like you who have already helped save at least three lives through selfless donation.
Brands love what we stand for (and in some cases they even change their staff policy to allow donation time!). So instead of spending money on traditional ads, they show their appreciation by offering exclusive discounts to WeDonate members (Heroes).

And when a brand offers an extra special deal, we ask them to help amplify our mission by sharing it with their own audience (in hopes of inspiring more people). In those cases, we don’t take a penny, because at WeDonate, we’re mission-first, always.
To date, WeDonate has been entirely funded and built by our two founders, Steve and Alex — both donors themselves and both working full time jobs to support WeDonate.
There’s no big corporation or national funding body behind us. Just two people with a mission and a community they deeply care about. 💜
This grassroots approach has been our biggest challenge, especially when it comes to raising awareness. We don’t have big budgets for ads or large-scale marketing campaigns.
Instead, we partner with brands and ask them to offer exclusive discounts to our members. While many of our joint campaigns are run free of charge to help spread the word, we aim to charge brands a small referral fee when members shop using WeDonate, helping us keep the lights on and grow the platform and mission of educating more people.
Of course, this model only becomes sustainable as more amazing people like you use WeDonate.
We’ve been honoured to receive awards like the AXA & The Standard Startup Angel Winner 2024 and the UnLtd Social Entrepreneur Award, which have helped us take important steps forward.
But the real fuel behind WeDonate? You. Our community. Every time you use WeDonate to shop it helps us grow our mission.
This all started when Steve’s family member needed 15 pints of blood during a medical emergency. That moment changed everything.
After that, I (Steve) began donating regularly and became part of a community of dedicated staff and donors. But I wanted to find a way our community could amplify the message, beyond giving every 12 weeks.
And that’s how WeDonate was born, a platform to say “thank you” to donors, and help inspire the next wave.
